I had a great deal of difficulty trying to get my first lot of treatments charged to my room at the Marriott across the road where I was at for the first part of my stay. Mineral pool outside for spa guests was also a nice feature though I didn't get to try it due to the weather. Huge lockers and sauna and steam facilities open. The treatments themselves were also very good and I think this is one of the few spas offering snacks during COVID which was appreciated. The other staff were also proactive about offering more drinks and I think that was going above and beyond.

I particularly was impressed with Kiley who gave a flawless experience and appreciated Nicole's attentiveness during pedicure - always checking in as to whether there was anything I needed. The spa is spacious and the staff are largely attentive and responsive. For this reason I think the hotel is not terribly appealing to people traveling on business. There is a small round table but by the time you take into account the tea and coffee making facilities and food there's not really room to work on it. I think a work desk and chair should have been added to the room. The room was devoid of surface areas for working which was problematic. Often I default to Marriott to make the most of my status but I find my loyalty is often not returned by the particular properties.

#Bumbled upgrade

A little disappointing that the hotel did not proactively offer the upgrade and I had to ask. I did receive a nice corner room for my Bonvoy Ambassador status as an upgrade so it would appear suite upgrades are tricky to come by. Unfortunately and perhaps a little surprizingly, this request could not be accommodated as the hotel was fully booked. Check in: The front desk agent was really gracious in trying to procure me a room with a bathtub as I had brought a range of bath products with me for a relaxing soak. Public spaces are lovely and well designed as well as aesthetically pleasing. Soft product is hit and miss except for the concierge Emily who was fantastic and deserves a special shout out. Strangely the staff answering the phones have all the warmth of an ice cube, probably a good idea to replace them with people who like being in customer facing roles and have the staff who hate people working in back office functions.

Some staff are great, others it's a miracle they even know how to tie their shoelaces. Phone system was down one morning, television consistently froze every so often (not a problem if you're watching Netflix though).

First off there are teething problems that I could understand if it was right after opening, but it has been a few months at least now. The property is probably closer to a two than a three out of five due to the soft product but because of Emily at the Concierge I'm erring on the higher rating.
